BIRMINGHAM–Detectives have obtained a warrant for an arrest in connection to the murder of 28-year-old Byron McNeal Jr. earlier this week, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Raheem White of Pleasant Grove, Alabama.
Detectives obtained a warrant for capital murder (suspect firing from a vehicle).
White turned himself into police and is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
McNeal’s death was Birmingham’s twelfth homicide in 11 days.
According to BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald, police received a call of a person shot just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Officers were dispatched to 2nd Street North and 6th Avenue North where they found McNeal laying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported McNeal to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
