TARRANT — The Tarrant Police Department is searching for a woman who they said stole a vehicle and led authorities on a high-speed chase through Birmingham on Friday.
The woman, Anita Shwun Smith, 32, is accused of forcing her way into a residence in the 2200 Block of Etowah Street at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020, and taking the keys to a dark-colored 2018 Nissan Altima with Alabama tag MWELDON.
Following the theft, a Tarrant officer located the vehicle, which then proceeded to flee.
In the pursuit, Smith exceeded speeds of over 120 mph on Interstate-20/59 as she recklessly attempted to elude the officer. The officer called off the chase after the pursuit was deemed to be a safety risk.
Smith is wanted on a felony warrant of theft of property in the first degree and burglary in the second degree along with two misdemeanor warrants for attempting to elude and reckless endangerment.
