BESSEMER — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office released the identity of two of the three people killed in two separate shootings over the weekend. The shootings happened on Saturday, March 21.
The first shooting happened around 6:20 p.m. on Long 14th Street. According to Carol Robinson with al.com, the shooting happened after a group of people got into an altercation. Christopher Edward Tillman, 39, of Bessemer, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The second shooting happened an hour later on Bell Street. Robinson reports a man fired his weapon and struck two men, killing them. One of the victims was identified as Jason Mendiola, 21, of Bessemer. The name of the second victim is unknown but Coroner Bill Yates said he is still trying to determine the identity of the second man killed on Bell Street.
