BIRMINGHAM — Jefferson County Health Officer Dr. Mark Wilson announced a new order for the county that requires face masks in public. The order goes into effect on Monday, June 29, at 5 p.m.
Businesses must display a notice requiring face masks.
Masks must be worn in indoor spaces of businesses or venues open to the general public, including but not limited to stores, bars and restaurants, entertainment venues, public meeting spaces, government buildings, civic centers, entertainment venues, etc.
Patrons of restaurants must wear face coverings when interacting with other persons not at their tables such as bartenders, servers, or other customers.
The order also covers transportation services and outdoor areas open to the general public.
