HOOVER — According to Hoover police, a vehicle traveling on Interstate 65 was struck by bullets around noon on Tuesday. The incident is believed to have occurred near the Interstate 459 junction.
Police said the suspect fled the scene at a high rate of speed in a dark SUV. The information was made available by HPD via social media on Friday.
According to the statement from HPD, on July 14 at 12:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of Interstate 65 northbound at Interstate 459 on a call involving a vehicle that had been shot. No injuries were reported.
Police said the exact location of the event has not yet been determined, but was likely in the area of I-65 northbound just before I-459.
“The information we have right now suggests that this was not a road rage incident,” according the statememt. “The suspect was described as a black male, driving a ‘newer’ model dark SUV. Tag information is unknown. The male allegedly fired shots at the victim’s vehicle and fled the area at a high rate of speed, continuing on I-65 northbound. Officers observed two holes in the doors on the passenger side of the vehicle.”
