HUEYTOWN — Upon further review, the Aug. 28 football game between Clay-Chalkville and Hueytown is expected to take place.
The Cougars (1-0) are scheduled to visit the Golden Gophers (0-1) this Friday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hueytown High School Stadium.
The contest was in doubt Monday morning after reports surfaced of a likely cancelation. The schools had been in contact, as Hueytown awaited COVID-19 test results for numerous members of the program.
At 4 p.m. Monday, Clay-Chalkville head coach Drew Gilmer confirmed: “The game is back on.”
The eighth-ranked Cougars come into this week’s contest with momentum following a decisive 37-19 victory at Shades Valley. Hueytown will be looking to bounce back following a 54-37 loss at Minor.
