WEDOWEE — The Randolph County Tigers look well on their way to a Class 2A, Region 4 championship.
Head coach Pat Prestridge, now in his eighth year on the job, has the Tigers off to a dominant 6-0 start, beating their opposition by an average of 22 points per outing.
To explain Randolph County’s fortunes, look no further than their senior leadership.
Defensively, Joshua Holloway and Noah Turner have led a unit yielding less than 11 points per game. The duo ranks first and second respectively among sack leaders in Alabama, as Holloway has 9 ½ sacks to Turner’s 8 ½.
“These young men have worked hard and diligently to achieve their goals and continue to work hard to achieve more,” said Turner’s mother, Amy. “They are role models, team leaders and are the epitome of high school athletes, young men, big brothers.”
Offensively, running back JD Till ranks second among state rushing leaders with 961 yards in five games. He trails Huffman’s Makhi Hughes, who leads all Alabama backs with 1,065 yards rushing in six outings, according to MaxPreps.
The Tigers are back in action next Friday at home against Vincent, as they look to improve to 5-0 in league play.
