TRUSSVILLE — The city of Trussville will soon have a new home decor destination. Stray Cats Home Decor is moving from Birmingham to Trussville. The store plans to open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020.
The store was previously in the Lakeview District and store owners Kim Padgett and Lee Stewart have been in business for 21 years.
“We started it in Irondale, then we had a place on 280 and then we moved to Birmingham,” Padgett said. “We are just trying to move closer to home in Ashville and we have a lot of customers out this way.”
The 3,500 square feet space is smaller than the 9,000 square feet space they had in Birmingham, but Padgett said that it a good thing.
“We want to concentrate more on our own furniture that we build,” she said.
Stray Cats Home Decor offers farm tables, cabinets, beds, headboards and other custom furniture. The store at 410 Gadsden Highway, has been approved to open by the city. Padgett and Stewart hope to open by the end of the first week of November.
If you are wondering where they got their name, Padgett and Stewart say they love cats, dogs, horses and all animals, so they wanted to make their name about their love for pets.
Stray Cats Home Decor will also participate in Totally Christmas on Nov. 23, at the Trussville Civic Center.
