TRUSSVILLE — Jefferson County Commissioner Joe Knight presented a check to Trussville City Schools during the Board of Education meeting on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020.
The money came from a one-cent sales tax, which generates about $70 million a year. A portion of that money is split among school systems, based on the number of students served.
This year, $18 million was split among school systems. TCS was able to secure $805,471.29 this year.
Knight said the funding will be available to school systems in Jefferson County for the next 25 years.
