A pair of local softball teams secured key area wins on Tuesday night

Hewitt-Trussville 18, Vestavia Hills 8
The Hewitt-Trussville softball team saw the ball well on Tuesday night.
Senior shortstop Jenna Lord smacked two grand slams and the No. 1-ranked Huskies tore past Vestavia Hills 18-8 in six innings.
As a team, the Huskies (33-2-1, 4-1) finished with six home runs, 12 hits and 17 RBIs in 28 at-bats. The girls also drew 11 walks and struck out only once in the dominant Class 7A, Area 6 victory.
Lord was joined by Kenleigh Cahalan, Anyce Harvey, Crystal Maze and Katelyn Murphy in the home runs club. Harvey finished with two hits, two RBIs and five runs scored and Cahalan added a pair of RBIs and three runs scored on Tuesday.
Springville 6, Mortimer Jordan 5
Tatum Bartlett was a problem for Mortimer Jordan on Tuesday. The Springville senior went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs to lead her girls to a 6-5 home win over the Blue Devils, extending the Tigers’ winning streak to 10 games.
Bartlett’s big knock came in the fifth inning, giving Springville (27-8, 5-0) its first lead at 6-4.
Reagan Cornelius chipped in with two hits of her own and worked three innings in the circle with three strikeouts and two runs allowed. Bella Bullington pitched four innings with two strikeouts and three runs allowed.
Leeds 3, Ramsay 2
A two-run fifth inning sent Leeds off with a 3-2 area win over Ramsay on Tuesday night.
The Green Wave (9-16, 5-1) overcame a one-run deficit thanks to an infield error that sent two Leeds runs home in the fifth.
Emma Machen threw a complete game with 12 strikeouts and two runs allowed off four Ramsay hits. Katelyn Howard paced the Leeds offense with two hits and two runs scored.
