UKRAINE — Overnight, Russian forces launched a full-scale attack of Ukraine. The invasion was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin who said the attack would target Ukraine’s Donbas region.
In the address, Putin threatened other countries to stay out of his way, saying, “Whoever would try to stop us and further create threats to our country, to our people, should know that Russia’s response will be immediate and lead you to such consequences that you have never faced in your history.”
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared martial law and urged citizens to fight back, pledging to supply weapons to all who would join in fight.
Civilian casualties have been reported by Ukraine, who also says their military has destroyed six Russian fighter jets and killed at least 50 Russian soldiers.
The United States, England, Canada and other NATO countries have implemented sanctions against Russia, but that did little to deter Putin.
