TRUSSVILLE — Whether it was running through the woods, around the 400 meter oval, or participating in field events, we all developed grit, perseverance, and confidence through our athletic pursuits. As graduation, life, and careers evolved one of the common threads that tie decades of athletes together is the name, Dobbs.
For over thirty years Anita and David Dobbs tirelessly gave their time, talents, and weekends to establish a premier running program at Hewitt-Trussville High School (HTHS). A program that produced multiple state championship teams, nearly 100 collegiate athletes, and countless records.
Best known for their athletic results, locally the community knows the Dobbs for their exemplary volunteerism, long careers as educators, and most importantly, their role in building young men and women of character.
HTHS is excited to announce the establishment of the David and Anita Dobbs Scholarship. The scholarship seeks to recognize athletes who embody character building, community involvement, and overcoming adversity–all characteristics the Dobbs taught the community. Scheduled to begin in the 2022-2023 school year, this scholarship will support graduating seniors while cementing the Dobbs’ legacy long after their retirement.
To make this scholarship possible, HTHS is relying on HTHS alumni and parents. HTHS has set an aggressive goal of raising $25,000 over the next few years. While ambitious, this amount will allow the school to expand award offerings and endow the
scholarship well into the future. No gift is too big or too small. Every $50 goes a long way in preserving the Dobbs’ legacy.

HTHS would like to thank those involved for their support, David and Anita Dobbs Scholarship Committee, Dr. Maggie Jensen, Mr. Andrew Dollar, Ms. Randi Miller, Mr. Jonathan Jeff, and Mr. Todd Bragan.
