BIRMINGHAM — A Birmingham man was arrested for the murder of a 48-year-old man.
According to the Birmingham Police Department (BPD), Joseph Edwards, 42, of Birmingham, was arrested for the murder of Daniel Cook.

Family members discovered Cook’s body just before 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 10, at his residence on the 900 block of 10th Street S.W. The family reportedly had not heard from him in several days.
“Patrol officers and detectives developed a person of interest; Birmingham Police Homicide detectives took a person of interest into custody in the 1800 block of 3rd Street Southwest,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald said. “The person of interest will be interviewed by detectives where charges will be pursued. The motive, in this case, appears to be domestic in nature. On the initial scene, our officers were told the suspect is the brother-in-law of the victim.”
Birmingham Police Detectives presented information on the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. After assessing the information, detectives obtained a warrant for murder ($1,500,000 Bond).
Edwards is in the custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
