MOODY — The Moody Police Department (MPD) has started taking applications for their 2022 Citizens Police Academy that will take place on Thursday evenings from September 8 through November 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. (Saturday range day will be announced at a later date)
According to the MPD Facebook page, this is a great opportunity to not only learn about law enforcement and the criminal justice system, but also to get to know the officers, dispatchers, prosecutors, and other personnel that are a vital part of our system.
Individuals who apply for the Citizens Police Academy must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants will be subjected to a background check and may be informed by writing, phone, or email as to whether they have been accepted for the class.
It is Free to participate in the Citizens Police Academy.
Citizens can take part in many different classes, and those include:
- Patrol Operations;
- Crime Scene Preservation and Collection of Evidence;
- Criminal Investigations;
- Criminal Law;
- Court Process and Procedures; and
- Firearms Safety and Use.

The Moody Citizens Police Academy is not designed to make participants certified police officers. The contents of this course are of an informative nature only, and it is not intended for graduates to have any authority of or act as police officers.
