Center Point — Calling all sixth to eighth graders in Center Point! Council President DM Collins proudly announces the launch of the “Earn as You Learn” Essay Contest in celebration of Black History Month.
“I hope to make this contest a memorable and enriching experience for our community,” said Collins. “Let’s celebrate Black History Month together and highlight the incredible contributions of African American individuals. I believe in empowering the next generation through knowledge and inspiration.”
Students are invited to write a 250-word essay about an African American individual who has inspired them and positively contributed to society. Open to those living or attending school in Center Point, this contest offers a unique opportunity for young minds to reflect on and express their admiration for influential figures.
Winning entries for each grade level will receive a $100 prize.
Entries must be submitted by February 28. Students should email essays to Collins at councilplace1@centerpointal.org. Paper copies of essays may also be delivered to the Center Point Public Library. Essays must contain student name, parent name, and contact information.
