In preparation of the Alabama Butterbean Festival, Oct. 5 and 6, the Pinson City Council passed a motion tonight to purchase a refurbished golf cart to be used by the city and contract deputies at city events.
“In addition (to ABBF), we very often need a golf cart for our deputies for the band festival and the other things that we do,” Pinson Mayor Hoyt Sanders said
.
Sanders said that the cart has a convertible, or rumble, seat that folds down. It can be either serve as a four passenger cart or a two passenger cart with cargo.
The city received bids from two separate companies for carts.
Smitty’s Truck Sales sent in bids for a brand new 2013 cart priced at $8,200, a 2012 demo cart priced at $6,400, and two 2008 refurbished carts priced at $4,200 and $4,750.
Golf Carts Unlimited sent bids for a 2009 refurbished cart for $4,200 and a 2011 demo cart for $5,200.
The city decided to purchase the 2009 refurbished cart from Golf Carts Unlimited for $4,200.
