TRUSSVILLE – The Trussville City Council honored Hewitt-Trussville basketball standout Cayla Dillard at Tuesday night’s regular session.
The point guard became the fourth girls player in Alabama High School Athletic Association history to eclipse both 1,000 points scored and 1,000 assists delivered in a career.
She accomplished the feat on Jan. 30 in a game against rival Clay-Chalkville. Dillard played with flue-like symptoms to deliver her 1,000th career assist on a Gabby Hill triple.
