From staff reports
TRUSSVILLE – One Trussville softball team is on its way to the World Series tournament in Panama City Beach, Fla.
The 8U Huskies finished second in the state tournament to qualify for the World Series, which starts on July 19. Anyone interested in donating or serving as a sponsor for the team’s trip to Florida is encouraged to contact the Trussville Girls Softball Association here.
In the first USFA Rec All-Star State finals at Liberty Park, Trussville took Vestavia into extra innings, but narrowly missed the win. After ten innings of play, the Rebels finally claimed an 18-17 victory.
However, the second-place finish was good enough to advance the Huskies onward to the World Series.
Trussville 8U Red is coached by Evan Hill. His roster includes the following girls: Emily Smith, Alleigh Benton, Reagan Hill, Darcy Hill, Lexi Kelly, Kate Hicks, Makalla Hope, Kendall Trimm, Layla Bradshaw, Liza Marczewska, Zaylen Tucker and Peyton Hull.
This roster is according to the softball association’s website.
