BIRMINGHAM — Officers from the Birmingham Police Department are investigating the homicide of a man who was shot while he was riding inside of a car. The man died shortly after arriving at Princeton Hospital.
The incident occurred on April 2 at the 4500 block of Grasselli Boulevard when the victim, identified as Demetrius Smith, 24, was shot by an unknown suspect while he was in the passenger seat of a car. The driver of the car then immediately drove to Princeton Hospital.
At around 10 p.m., officers from the West Precinct were dispatched to the hospital where Smith had been pronounced dead. The case continues to be investigated.
