HAYDEN — A dozen people were injured during a Traditions Bank stockholders meeting when a tent collapsed during a storm, according to Jonathan Hardison of WBRC. More than 400 people were attending the annual event.
West Blount Fire Chief J.J. Ivey told Hardison that 12 people hurt in the collapse and six were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Two people reportedly sustained serious head and back injuries
Former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz was scheduled to speak at the event and reports said he was at the location, but uninjured.
The National Weather Service in Birmingham had issued a significant weather advisory for the storm that caused the damage to the tent.
