MONTGOMERY – If you are a registered voter in Alabama and have not updated your address you may be one of 300,000 whose voter’s registration has been designated inactive.
According to Alabama Secretary of State, John Merrill, there are approximately 301,914 voters who are listed inactive. The good news is that voters can still cast ballots on Tuesday, Nov. 6, but Merrill says voters must complete a form at their polling place to update address.
In Alabama there is voter roll maintenance performed, a process which varies in each state. An inactive status was declared for Alabama voters after a mailed registration was returned as undeliverable and the registrant didn’t respond to a second postcard.
