TRUSSVILLE — Court dates have been added to the scheduling order in the case of the man suspected in the deadly Cracker Barrel shooting on March 28.
The arraignment and the preliminary hearing for Bryan Hancock, 22, of Pinson, could be Thursday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m. This date could change if there is a valid conflict with the defense or prosecutors. The case has been assigned to Judge Tracie Todd in Jefferson County.
Hancock is charged with capital murder in connection to the shooting death of Randy Young.
Young was shot in the head in the parking lot of the Cracker Barrel restaurant on Norrell Drive. He was taken to the hospital by Trussville Fire and Rescue and was on life support for two days before succumbing to his injuries.
It was determined the incident started after the suspects parked their vehicle in a manner that blocked the victim’s vehicle. Police determined an altercation escalated into the shooting.
Hancock faces the death penalty if found guilty of capital murder. His attorneys said video evidence will prove their client was acting in self-defense.
