The five-year capital plan the Jefferson County Board of Education approved Thursday includes nine items relating to local schools.
The prioritized, 42-item list plans for capital projects to potentially be funded between the 2014 fiscal year and 2018 fiscal year.
The fifth item on the list is a projected $2.3 million renovation for Johnson Elementary School in Pinson. The funding year would be 2015, and the renovation would be for a new cafeteria to accommodate increased enrollment.
The sixth item on the list is a projected $175,000 renovation for Rudd Middle School in Pinson. The funding year would be 2015, and the renovation would be for lighting and painting, restroom renovation and door replacement.
The seventh item in the capital plan is a predicted $350,000 restoration for Clay-Chalkville High School. The funding year is projected to be 2015, and the project includes resurfacing the football field, expanding the practice field, and creating three fields on the property between the high school and Clay Elementary School.
The 16th item on the list calls for an additional school in the eastern area to reduce numbers at Chalkville Elementary School. The 2018 funding year project carries with it a predicted budget of $15 million.
The 20th item on the list is a projected $1 million addition to Clay-Chalkville High School. The funding year would be 2017, and the addition would be six new classrooms to replace portables.
The 31st item in the plan is a projected $220,532 renovation at Chalkville Elementary School to correct severe conditions as determined by the facility assessment process. The funding year would be 2018. The 32nd item on the list is a predicted $211,605 renovation at Clay Elementary School to correct severe conditions as determined by the facility assessment process. The funding year would be 2018.
The 35th item is a projected $490,898 renovation at Johnson Elementary School to correct severe conditions as determined by the facility assessment process. The funding year would be 2018. The 40th item is a predicted $239,006 renovation at Rudd Middle School to correct severe conditions as determined by the facility assessment process. The funding year would be 2018.
Funding sources for all these projects are unknown.
