BIRMINGHAM — One man is dead and a juvenile girl was rushed to the hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound early Monday morning, according to police in Birmingham.
“Officers from the West Precinct responded to a call of shots fired at Sixth Street and St. Charles Avenue SW,” Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin said. “Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.”
He was pronounced deceased on the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
“Officers also encountered a female victim (juvenile) struck by gunfire,” Mauldin said. “She was transported to Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries.”
The victims have not been identified and no suspects are in custody at this time. The incident remains under investigation by the Birmingham Police Department.
