BIRMINGHAM — The male victim of a Monday morning shooting in southwest Birmingham was identified as a 16-year-old Parker High School student.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as James Looney. He was a sophomore at Parker.
“Officers from the West Precinct responded to a call of shots fired at Sixth Street and St. Charles Avenue SW,” Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin said regarding the incident. “Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.”
Looney was pronounced deceased at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
The wounded female, 15, was rushed to the hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound, according to police in Birmingham. She is a freshman at Parker.
“Officers also encountered a female victim (juvenile) struck by gunfire,” Mauldin said. “She was transported to Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries.”
No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
