The Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists last month honored Sen. Slade Blackwell, R-Birmingham, with the Healthcare Leadership Award.
Blackwell received the award at a meeting of Nurse Anesthetist Legislative Day on Capital Hill.
Blackwell represents Jefferson and Shelby counties in District 15.
Each year, the association presents the award to an individual who has demonstrated leadership in bringing the best, most affordable health care to Alabama citizens.
“Sen. Blackwell has been an advocate for quality, affordable health care,” said Phillip Kendrick, president of the Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists. “He has been a true leader, respected by his peers and dedicated in his service.”
The Alabama Association of Nurse Anesthetists has more than 1,300 members who live and work across Alabama.
Blackwell currently serves on the board for the Lakeshore Foundation, the Birmingham History Center, the Pinson Education Foundation, the Birmingham Golf Association and the Shelby Arts Council.
