PINSON – Monday around 10:45 a.m. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a burglary in progress in the 400 block of Carson Road North.
The homeowner, who wasn’t home at the time, called the sheriff’s office to report a neighbor had seen a white male in a white truck breaking into her home.
Deputies arrived to find the truck still outside and the front door forced open. Deputies could hear someone moving around inside the residence, and yelled for
anyone outside to come out.
Shortly after, the suspect opened a window on the front of the home and crawled out. When he saw deputies waiting for him, he surrendered and was subsequently arrested.
The suspect, 34-year-old Miguel Don Juan, told deputies that “he has a drug problem and needed some money.” He went on to tell them he uses around $150 in heroin a day.
Juan was arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree and possession of burglary tools. He was found to additionally have several outstanding warrants for failing to appear on drug charges.
Juan remains in the Jefferson County Jail with no bond.
