BIRMINGHAM – Officers from the Birmingham Police Department are on the lookout for a suspect in the recent murder of a deacon and are requesting help from the public in making an identification, according to a report by Carol Robinson.
On Feb. 2, Ricky Parker, 58, a church deacon, was murdered in the backyard of his home at the 1000 block of 46th Street Ensley. Police found that he had been shot in the head.
A motive has not been established by police.
According to bystanders in the neighborhood, a grey 2004 Cadillac CTS, owned by Parker, was seen leaving the home after shots were heard being fired. The vehicle was found at Central Park Recreation in the 4700 block of Terrace Q.
Surveillance video at the recreation center captured footage of the vehicle arriving and a person stepping out of it. Anyone who may have been at the center at that time are asked to call the police department if they have any clues leading to an arrest.
