ST. CLAIR COUNTY — The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office presented the daughter of a fallen sheriff with a special flag in memory of her father.
The daughter of Sheriff “Big John” Williams, Shanice Williams, was given the memorial flag in honor of Sheriff Williams.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office also released a statement.
“It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of a kind and generous man,” the statement said. “Sheriff Big John Williams never missed an opportunity to offer a reassuring word or advice gained from a forty-year law enforcement career serving others. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.”
Also on hand for the flag presentation was Lieutenant Jones from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Williams was laid to rest on Monday, Dec. 2. Williams was fatally shot at a gas station outside of Montgomery on Nov. 23. He was the fifth law enforcement officer killed in Alabama this year.
