RANDOLPH COUNTY — Two children and an adult were killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning, according to the Alabama State Troopers Office.
On Sunday, Jan. 19, at approximately 2:34 a.m., troopers were notified by 911 operators of a single-vehicle accident on Alabama Highway 48 near County Road 95 in Randolph County.
The vehicle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed while negotiating a curve when it ran off the left side of the roadway striking a tree head on, troopers said.
The collision caused the vehicle to catch fire and completely burn.
Trooper Jerome Cofield, Cpl. Brian Merrill and Trooper Todd Jubenville all responded to the scene.
Randolph County Corner Terry Sparks also responded to attempt to identify the fatalities, ALEA said in a statement issued Sunday morning.
