JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said a man was killed overnight after being struck by a car on Queenstown Road at the Alabama Boulevard exit.
The incident happened around 3:12 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1.
Deputies were first called to the location on reports of a man sitting in the middle of the roadway. A short time later, a woman called 911 and said she had hit the man with her car.
“Deputies arrived on scene to find a 29-year-old male, who had been struck by a gray Honda Civic and had died from his injuries,” Sgt. Joni Money said. “During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver of the Civic was legally intoxicated.”
Deputies arrested the 31-year-old driver and she is now charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Additional charges are possible.
