BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian killed on I-65 on Sunday, May 22, at approximately 8:48 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Candis Danyelle Smith, 55, of Birmingham, was a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle while walking in the travel lanes of Interstate 65 South near Green Spring Avenue.
“The driver of the vehicle that struck the decedent remained at the scene and reported the event to authorities,” Chief Deputy Coroner Williams Yates said.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
