BIRMINGHAM — Authorities here have a person of interest in custody after a woman turned herself in at the Birmingham Police Department’s West Precinct following a fatal shooting on I-59 South on Saturday, July 23.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
“The preliminary investigation has revealed that while officers were on Interstate 59 South, a person of interest was developed after an adult female showed up at West Precinct voluntarily,” Fitzgerald stated. “Homicide detectives will interview the person of interest at the Birmingham Police Headquarters. At this time, it is unknown where the original location of the shooting took place.”
