TALLADEGA COUNTY — A multi-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:16 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, left a 43-year-old St. Clair County woman dead, according to Sergeant Jeremy J. Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The crash occurred after the woman was struck in the rear-end by an Alabama State Trooper, sending her into a collision with a dump truck.
Lori M. Laber, 43, of Ragland, was fatally injured when the 2017 Honda Civic she was driving was struck by the 2015 Kenworth dump truck driven by a Pell City man.
“Before colliding with the Kenworth, the Honda was struck in the rear-end by the 2021 Dodge Charger driven by a Trooper assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division,” Burkett said in a statement. “Laber was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Burkett said that Jesse R. Ecker Jr., 43, of Ragland, who was a passenger in the Honda, was also not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and transported to Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega for treatment.
The crash occurred on Alabama 77 near the 80 mile marker, within the city limits of Lincoln, in Talladega County.
No further information is available as Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
