BIRMINGHAM — A 12-year-old boy was critically injured when a bullet fire from outside came through the child’s Eastlake home, according to Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported the victim to Children’s Hospital with critical injuries.
Officers found multiple shell casings in the roadway at the Division Avenue address where the call originated.
“We believe that an unknown suspect or suspects fired shots into an occupied house on Division Avenue and also traveled a block away into the 8300 block of First Avenue South and struck the 12-year-old boy who was inside his own home,” Fitzgerald said. “The 12-year-old victim was completely innocent and an unintended target.”
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
