BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department said a suspect turned himself in Friday after he shot and killed a man near 47th Street and Ninth Terrace North.
The shooting happened around 1:36 p.m., on Friday, July 3, 2020. South Precinct officers responded and found a man on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported the victim to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives said after a preliminary investigation, they found the shooter and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation prior to the shooting.
The victim will be identified after next-of-kin notification.
The identity of the suspect has not been released.
