TRUSSVILLE — A search of the Hewitt-Trussville High School parking lot by the Trussville Police Department Thursday morning has resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old male HTHS student.
Trussville police conducted the search around 9:50 a.m. Thursday morning when the department’s K-9 “Leo” indicated on a particular vehicle for the presence of narcotics, according to Detective Michael Bruce.
The student who the vehicle belongs to was removed from class, and a search of the vehicle produced marijuana and Methylphenidate Hydrochloride, or Ritalin pills.
The student was subsequently charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Methylphenidate Hydrochloride is a schedule 2 controlled substance.
