BIRMINGHAM — The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the skeletal remains found in a burnt car in Birmingham on Friday, July 8, at approximately 1:15 p.m.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Cedric Lernard Terry, 56, of Birmingham, remains were recovered from within a burnt sedan located on the property of the Fraternal Cemetery.
“The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined,” Chief Deputy Coroner William Yates said.
Officers from the BPD West Precinct responded to 334 Sheridan Road in Birmingham on a call of a burned vehicle located on the property of the Fraternal Cemetery. Officers arrived and observed skeletal human remains in the vehicle’s passenger seat.

“The preliminary investigation led detectives to classify this incident as a homicide investigation,” Sergeant Rodarius Mauldin said. “The investigation is ongoing. No arrest has been made.”

This is the 66th murder investigation of 2022, with five justifiable death investigations.
